München, Deutschlands heimliche Hauptstadt (Munich, Germany)The best way to discover Munich is to take a walk through the historical Old Town, where you can find many of the finest sights (neo-gothic New Town Hall, the Church of our Lady, baroque Theatine Church, the Royal Residence, the National Theatre, the Hofbräuhaus (perhaps the most famous and most touristy pub), lively Viktualienmarkt, etc.). Sights outside the Old Town can easily be reached by the well-organized public transportation system. Like the Olympic Park, where the Olympic Summer Games in 1972 took place, but also Nymphenburg Palace and the English Gardens.
If you plan on visiting Munich's "Oktoberfest" be prepared to celebrate with Millions of other people, and be prepared that finding a seat in one of the numerous tents (capacity of around 5000 people (!)) can be a nearly impossible task, especially in the evenings. Nevertheless, the atmosphere there is unique, though sometimes all the drunk people can be quite difficult to endure.
Munich is definitely a great place to spend some nice days :-)
